My Silver Lining

After what we might all consider a shitty week, and a couple of extra smelly ones for me, I got some unexpected positive news a few days ago.

I got promoted!

Without going into too many details, I was given an opportunity that many can only really dream of.

I am in the creative industry, a drastic change from a previous incarnation as a typical finance type in Hong Kong. Where I used to sit in front a three screens tapping away at my numeric keypad, punching away at spreadsheet calculations, I now find myself sitting in a room full of other creatives – all much more brilliant than I – trying to squeeze ideas for online and advertorial ideas for multinational clients.

It isn’t as easy as it sounds, but don’t get me wrong, it is a lot of fun. There is a certain amount of satisfaction when you come up with ideas that transition onto billboards and on digital platforms.

One thing I have noticed in my uber emotional state is the importance of being in a positive frame of mind. It certainly hasn’t been easy for me with recent events in my life, and this has made me realise that I need to approach life, and happiness with life, with a whole-of-life approach. There is a need to create a life of happiness, and to do that one needs discard the negative forces that haunt us and remain open to positivity.

I know this all sounds like mumbo jumbo, but I am in the business of bridging the mumbo jumbo with actionable steps. Data, facts and figures all have their important places in my world, but equally, so does a healthy state of being.

Peace.
